Health and Safety Training, inc. is an ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) authorized training center. We offer the coursework you need to become an ASHI certified CPR/First Aid instructor. Upon successful completion of your coursework (which includes a written exam and a performance evaluation) and application, you will become certified to teach the following courses:
CPR/AED for the Community and Workplace
CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer (BLS for healthcare providers)
Bloodborne Pathogens
Basic First Aid
Basic Wilderness First Aid
Child and Babysitting Safety
Emergency Oxygen Administration
Pet First Aid
Your instructor development course is broken into two segments: the written exam and the performance evaluation. After registering for the course, you will receive an email confirmation with a link to our online course materials. You will work through the online course materials at your own pace from the privacy of your own home/office. When you are ready, you will take the written exam online. Then you'll be ready for your live class to learn how to demonstrate the hands on skills required to teach these classes. You'll prepare two teaching segments before we get together and we will use those prepared segments to conduct your performance evaluation.
Here's how to register! Pick a day from the drop down menu. That day will be your performance evaluation. You'll work on your online coursework and complete it before your selected day! Here is what is required financially:
Instructor Development Course: (includes written exam and live performance evaluation) $300
CPR Certification course if required: $40 (not necessary if you already have a current CPR card)
ASHI application fee: $25 every two years maintains your CPR Instructor certification. You will need to bring a check made out to ASHI in the amount of $25 on the day of your class. (Credit cards and cash can also be accepted)
Instructor materials: ASHI requires that each instructor have a copy of the instructor materials for each course that he/she wishes to teach. At a minimum, you will need to purchase the instructor materials for CPR/AED for the Community and Workplace or CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer. The cost for these materials depends on the courses you wish to teach and can be found at ASHI's online store. Health and Safety Training will purchase those materials on your behalf (only training centers are allowed to make purchases) - tax, s/h and credit card processing fees will be assessed. Once you tell me what materials you want to purchase, we'll contact ASHI on your behalf to find out what the total cost will be.
Credit cards and cash are accepted - you can register with this eventbrite system and pay via paypal (credit cards, checks) or you can arrange to make a cash payment. If your financial situation doesn't allow you to pay in full today, we are willing to discuss payment plans. Your ASHI application can not be sent in until all financial obligations are met.
